Cookies must leave EU before April 2011 and challenges the Internet- and the advertising business

Cookies within needs approval and new user conditions and Privacy Policy has to be changed for many publishers.

The EU new law requires accept from all users before a cooking is placed on the users Internet machine. So does a new amendment to the EU Privacy directive which was voted though the 26 Oct 2009. It will come into force soon in each country within the EU and could have huge implications for the online advertising industry, the CMS og Shopping Cart industry, Bigger portals of which uses cookies for functions such as ad targeting and audience segmentation. Also the big players like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft is affected. And it affects every website in the way they are placing cookies on the visitors equipment. New Privacy Policies has to be made.

An amendment to an EU privacy directive was voted through by the Council of the EU on October 26th, and now awaits simple formalities before it comes into force. EU member states must then interpret and implement the directive through local laws by April 26th 2011 at the latest.

The EDPS, the body responsible for EU institutions’ compliance with data protection laws, issued a press release yesterday stating, “nothing stands in the way for the ePrivacy Directive to enter into force. The formalities required for formal adoption will be undertaken in the coming weeks. The revised ePrivacy Directive, as amended by the European Parliament and adopted by the Council must be implemented by the Member States within 18 months.”

Struan Robertson, Legal Director at law firm Pinsent Masons, described the remaining formalities as a “rubber stamping exercise.” The amended directive will now state that national governments must “ensure that the storing of information, or the gaining of access to information already stored, in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user is only allowed on condition that the subscriber or user concerned has given his/her consent, having been provided with clear and comprehensive information.”

Cookies without user consent would only be allowed when they are “strictly necessary” to provide a service “explicitly requested” by the user such as storing shopping cart information on e-commerce sites, for example. The directive must now be interpreted and implemented by individual governments through local laws, but Robertson suggests any interpretation that attempts to avoid the issue of clear user consent would be an unlawful one. “There could be advantages for everyone if it is interpreted that way, but it would not accurately implement EU law,” he said. U.K. regulators, for example, reproduced the wording of the original 2002 directive faithfully in local law, and Robertson said he expects the same this time round.

However, IAB Europe Vice President Kimon Zorbas suggests that consent could be given through users’ browser settings in much the same way some users already manage their cookies. That might enable users to express consent permanently, eliminating the need for pop-ups and other disruptions to user experience the directive might cause. Roberston suggests the directive was already intended to require consent for cookies, but that its wording enabled publishers and ad companies to comply by publishing details of cookie use in their privacy policies. “I suspect the motivation for this could be to correct ambiguity in the original directive,” he said.

Windows 8 + Windows Server 2012 delivery

Since December 2009 there have been rumours about Windows 2008 and Windows Server 2012. Microsoft have send confidential information about Windows 8 to their PC customers.

In this e-mail Microsoft is saying it is the first info about Windows 8.0. This info is leaked to the media. Some of the news inside the operating system is:  Windows Store, like the Apple App Store. Microsoft has tried this APP Shop concept before. It is Microsoft Marketplace, but without any success and many users.

But since then there is many new users, many new smart phone users and much more developer focus and developers than before, why the developers will help Microsoft to gain success this time. This App Store will contain account information and license management, software updating and the possibility to distribute licenses to more platforms and fysical gear, from phones to TV’s. They also write about a Quality Control for the applications to be sold through Windows Store. Another big ID issue is that Windows 8.0 will recognize your face from the monent you sit in front of your notebook. This is done by using tje built in camera in most computers and by facerecognition. I can imagine that voice recognition also will be in use…

Windows 8 will be available in 2012 and the campaign is set to May and June and the delivery is set to June. According to many bloggers the Beta will come out in the middle of 2011 and the public beta will go out in Q4 2011.

Windows Server 2012 (The name is not yet known) wil follow the same time because of the simultaneous development. The new Windows Server 2012 is expected to have a better Social Media in the Enterprise solution,. that is that Social Media is used internally, like Sharepoint is to share and work on documents and streamline the communication in a company.

Other facilities might be an integration of an IPX which is a VOIP Server Solution for telephony by VOIP and Mobiles. Companies like the Danish VOPIUM is seen to have very good cards on their hands. They might actually be sold very soon, one internally spokesman in Verinet says. The new Windows Server 2012 will also be focused on Microsoft Cloud and APPS delivery products like Asure, Microsoft Office, Exchange and Sharepoint.

It will be possible to have your private Cloud Computing Platform as Cloud Computing already i a key element to gain new customers at Redhat, Novell and most other Linux Distributions. Some of the new HYPERV facilities might be provisioning and the ability provide virtualization in a HPC environment.

This environment is already known as Windows HPC Server, where HPC is “High Performance Computing”. I suppose that the new elements from NVIDIA might be supported, it is namely the new platform of TESLA CUDA and FERMI. There is also a possible move from the gaming industry who pushes 3D to gain more sales. But this is pure speculation 🙂

The Internet “Roads” is now 40 years old…

ARPA 1969:

ARPA 1977:

The beginning of the “Roads”. Today’s Internet Is now 40 Years Old. HAPPY BIRTDAY!

The Internet is now 40 years old. Actually the first long distance message was sent to launch the ARPANET on Oct. 29, 1969. This message is recognized to be the first e-mail in the world. This first e-mail travelled traveled around 400 miles from LA, UCLA to the Stanford Research Institute. The background is that the ARPANET was started to save the Defense Department money and the initial reactions to the founding of the Internet were negative. According to Newsfactor, on that date, engineers at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) sent a message to their counterparts at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in San Francisco, a distance of about 400 miles. In a modern-era equivalent of the legendary first telephone message. According to Newsfactor:

“he first typed in the letter “L” and then, by phone, asked an engineer at SRI if the letter had arrived. When that was confirmed, it was on to completing the word “log.” The arrival of the “O” was also verified by phone, but the system crashed on “G.” The problem was debugged, and now, four decades later, the world has changed. Brad Shimmin, an analyst with industry research firm Current Analysis, said he likens the birth of the Internet to the invention of roads. “Roads,” he pointed out, “were a key reason for the dominance of the Roman Empire” and the U.S. has been profoundly shaped by its interstate highway system.

The Internet or something like it was as inevitable as roads, Shimmin said. “The desire to communicate” is primal, he noted, and communicating through computing devices grows out of that. It might have grown up in ways other than the IP-based, cobbled-together system of the Internet, he said, but it would have happened. That original research project, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency, was propelled by duplicate funding requests from various academic and research institutions. ARPA wanted the institutions to share their research. At First, Negative Reactions. M.I.T.’s Dr. Larry Roberts, who created the basic technical specs of what was then called ARPANET, recalled recently that initial reactions to the early Internet were quite negative. Institutions, he told the BBC, wanted to keep control of their bulky computers, but soon found out that they could get more computing power at lower overall cost if they worked together.

The ARPANET engineers, he said, knew the project “would change the face of research and development and business.” Before ARPANET, computers could be networked in dedicated sessions, but the costs and time to do so made it impractical and inefficient. By using packet switching, which the 1969 launch demonstrated, costs and ease of connection could be dramatically improved. Packet switching allows data to be broken up into smaller chunks for transmission using a network of computers, and then reassembled at the destination. Even though Oct. 29 is the generally accepted birthday for the Internet, that is subject to some dispute. While it was the date a message was sent from a lab in one city to a lab in another, some people consider Sept. 2 as the birthday. On Sept. 2, 1969, a message was also sent from one computer to another — a distance of 15 feet inside the UCLA lab.

This first engagement with the technology, was leading to the “first few hosting steps in Denmark, when we in 1991 where having our first server.” It was a server which was home made, that is, it it was assembled by hand. The same server later had around 400 domains as one of the largest web hotels and was upgraded to a 40GB harddisk with tape backup. ” AS a hosting Center Verinet now includes more than 1.000 servers with more than 30.000 domains. Now a days we have to make design, hosting and also advise about business plans. So you may say that the original business idea of selling a Web-Hotel for 3.600,- has changed. But not the price which in many ways is still the same.

Around 40.000 danish domains is unsecure why Hosting providers is looking forward to a busy fall

Around 40.000 Danish domains and their web sites under the .DK toplevel domain contains a marker of security flaws. That means, that most of them are hackable and/or is already defaced or exploited according to a official web page who scans all domains for this. From many of our dealers we found, that many pages already is hacked or is defaced. The service is only scanning what you can scan from outside by scanning Danish IP ranges.

Friendly hackers is searching for high bandwidth, at the many Hosting Centers which are placed centrally on the Internet

Since hackers are very friendly, they actually close the holes for you, but the reason is that no other hacker can come in. It is our estimate that the actual number is around 25.000 hacked pages which are used to spread dangerous content from downloading files and/orthe server will be used as a part of a BOT NET. Themany bot net is mostly automaticallyscanning other IP ranges aroiund the world. The bot nets also prefer to have unlimited bandwidth in stead of localy users with DSL services.

Original title: Around 40.000 Danish domains is insecure.
Original publisher: Verinet

Large number of hacker attacks carried out in Denmark

RISK: Average (4 out of 10)

There are many hacker attacks which deface and / or installs a botnet (robot) which can carry out attacks and look for credit card info and passwords as typed on a server and then automatically forwarded. It seems to be directed at Denmark as a penalty because of “Cartoon Crisis” why we assume that all domains and IP classes in Denmark is scanned and attacked.

According to there is 36594 DK domains in their register since 01.01.09. Many well-known Danish companies is in here. Since Verinet sells through dealers and distributors, we can only answer for the servers we maintain with a Server Care subscription. There are many attacks attempts daily on all servers among all hosting providers. So it is not unusual.

Recommended actions for both Hosting Providers and the administrative staff working on a server

Since most servers are hacked simply by grabbing the password from the administrative users, it is always a good idea NOT TO let your browser remember your logins since a hacker easily can get access to you notebook or PC. If a sniffer is installed on the cliens or the router, it is in no use anyway.

1. Update your operating system and all applications and programming languages and remember especially JAVA, FLASH, PDF, PHP, ASP, DOT NET and all CMS systems. Many neglect local update of example Acrobat, Flash, Java, Microsoft Office, Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

2. Check also that you have access to your routers webadmin or switch since many of those is hacked hardware currently according to:

3. After a update scan your server, PC, IP address and domain for vulnerabilities. Remember you must have both firewall and antivirus software updated to latest versions. Check if your pages contain unknown downloads or links. Remember all your domains and servers and also include all old and forgotten tests and installations in sub-folders etc. On Linux also run a Rootkit hunter like RKHunter. The Scan for open ports use the NMAP tool to discover open ports and close ports which is not in use.

4. In the Firewall close ALL traffic except those services and ports which is not used. Also make all ADMIN and ROOT logins invisible, that is done by allowing only the adminstrators IP.

5. Do you have home made Web pages and/or applications, there is good reason for extra control as they do not have thousands of developers and testers for vulnerability or automatic warning or control. Check whether you are on the list above, which appears to increase hours-of-hours. The above link is safe.

Many attacks also happens via e-mail every day. Today was the example. UK hosting provider – in this link is an IP address with attacks even on those IP addresses you are coming from using a refer function.

SOURCE: LINK TO THE HACKER GROUP: (Go into it ONLY IF you are sure you have fulfilled the above) The link goes through Google Translate and asks you to install an “application”. Here you must answer no.

Verinet joins the Open Cloud Manifesto for Open Cloud Computing standards

Cloud Computing is gaining momentum in the market and the standard Open Cloud Manifesto is a working group, from Verinet expects to benefit from designing Cloud Computing Systems.

Other members includes Adobe, AT&T, IBM, Novell, Red Hat, SAP, SUN, VMWARE, Open Cloud Consortium as well as many of the partners of Verinet.

Verinet is producing services such as DAAS, Datacenter As A Service, CloudServer, CloudBackup, VirtualCloud, CloudOffice, CloudDesktop and CloudSourcing.

Cloud Computing Information:

The Danish Ruby on Rails goes to 14% marketshare

The programming language Ruby is taking market shares. Now it has gained from 10 to 14% marketshare which is 40% more developers since last year according to Infoworld.

Ruby on Rails is a Danish development to the famous programming language Ruby. It is Evans Data North, American Development Survey that found the gain to 14 percent of developers in that region who uses Ruby. 20 percent of the developers expect to use Ruby in the coming year.

Linux continue to increase as the target platform for Web Sites and Deveopment and scripting languages for this platform has the highest growth. The survey reveil som other information which includes that Commercial SQL databases are 2,5 times more likely to be used as a primary database than free open source SQL databases. Also 60 percent of all developers uses a agile methodology and 75 percent of all applications considered for cloud computiong will require audit trails. Evans’s survey aroun 400 North American developers and measures the use of scripting languages, 3GL languages, and platform targeting and migration. Technology adoption such as Cloud Computing, SAAS, Web services, SOA, and parallel programming also are factored into the survey.

Hosting Center is cheaper than Cloud Computing says McKinsey & Company

For many companies it can be cheaper to buy the same infrastructure as in cloud computing. This is the conclusion from the consulting and advisor company McKinsey & Company. The report assuming that many companies want to use a shared sky, which many european companies will not do. Most companies does not ike the fact that their data is not encrypted and available on Amazon or Google Servers. If you want to build and maintain your own PRIVATE SKY it is actually cheaper than the costs for estabishment and maintaing running on the most know brands of Cloud Computing Providers. It is because that existing equipment can be re-used.

The compare system is by using the prices from Amazon EC2, and it turns out that Amazon is higher insted of buying your own equipment and use it as Server Hosting or Outsourcing in a ordinary Hosting Center. Many other companies such as Appriro agree that it is cheaper when we talk about SAAS – Software As A Service. McKinsey is setting the price pr. processor in a arge datacenter to 45 dollars pr. month. Garntner Group does not agree, as they tel the prices are much lower and thereby there is a bigger benefit for the provider.

SuperMicro, Cisco and Citrix News

The new nesletter is online now for sending friday. The content is Cisco Fiber, SuperMicro range of products and new CITRIX products for Cloud Computing, Virtualization and Enterprise Client integration of all systems such as servers, notebooks, PDA and phones.

Psyb0t botnet worm infects most Linux routers and modems like Cisco, Linksys, Zyxel, D-Link and Netgear also in a Server Hosting Center

The botnet worm “psyb0t is the first known worm to be capable of directly infecting routers and cable/DSL modems. The first known incident about the PSYBOT worm, was by infecting a Australian Netcomm NB5 modem and router. However everyone should check this again since this version ‘verison 18’ does a lot more than the first versions.

The affected brands so far is: CISCO, LINKSYS, ZYXEL, D-LINK and NETGEAR. There might be many others and many OEM providers with unknown brands.

Sources mentions that up to 200.000 systems already are infected. A new group of users is the many customers in a Server Hosting Center which currently uses the routers for switching. The man behind the Botnet was saying that is has infected around 80.000 users.

The main target is devices such as routers and modems. These are not under the protection of the server, note book or pc’s built in firewall and anti virus systems. The worm contains the coding for over 30 different Linksys models, 10 Netgear models, and 15 other models of cable and DSL modems, APC reports. It did not specify which models.

The worm does brute force with a list of more than 6000 usernames and 13,000 passwords. This is used to hack Telnet and SSH logins which are open to the LAN and WAN side of the routers. Very often the users is not changing the default password and user and generally most routers do not have a lockout system after a number of incorrect password actions, and this make it very simple to attack routers and modems worldwide with big numbers of bruteforce attacks.

DroneBL reported that a router and/or modem which are build as a MIPS processor and run the Linux Mipsel OS, which us a simple Linux operating system for the MIPS Processors, is vulnerable. This happens if they have a router administration interface, a sshd/telnetd access in a DMZ with a weak username/passwords.

Also the devices which use a flashed open-source firmwares like openwrt and dd-wrt or Vxworks is vulnerable. Many other routers may be vulnerable especially if the password is among the 13.000 paswords in the brute force list.

Which Vendors, ISP Providers and Hosting Centers is infected?

No one exactly knows which products, vendors and ISP’s who are infected at the moment.

It is very difficult to detect an infection since the the only way to discover it, is to look at the traffic going through the router. This requires a port traffic analyzer, so how can you actually know that your router or modem is clean or infected?

Once infected the Botnet is able to disable the admin interface. So one indication could be a lost admin interface. If it is lost then yopu can gain the access by a factory reset – usually it is a buttom on the router.  Also the Botnet i able to scan for other weaknesses such as the PHPMyAdmin and MySQL installations. Maybe the Botnet is entirely updateable and/or can be on the market now i different versions, and that is why it is difficult to say WHICH vendors who are vulnerable.

That is why we suggest that you control your router or modem and look for the vendors homepage for at control, scan or fix.

How do you clean your equipment?

IF your router has disabled the Admin Interface, you shoulf take care right away. At this point a Factory Reset simply is not enough. It is better than nothing, but it dos not gives you any fix, as your router can be hacked once again, a few minutes after.

Another way is to actually update your BIOS wit a new install or a reinstall from the Vendors homepage, aslo if the date of the upgrade is identical.

At this point you should change your password to contain at least 9 letters with symbols, numbers and BIG and small letters-

According to many sources the ports 22, 23 and 80 are blocked as a part of the infection process (but NOT as part of the rootkit itself and running the rootkit itself will not alter your iptables configuration). If you find that these ports are blocked, you should perform a hardware reset on your device and then change the administrative passwords, and also update to the latest firmware.

The purpose of a botnet is to perform attacks like DDOS, to scan and infect other vulnerable software on your computers, servers and hardware appliances.

Facebook is a security risk and can give direct access for your PC and your company

With millions of users Facebook is a Social Media platform where it is possible for everyone to produce applications which can use known security holes in Windows Vista and Windows XP. The benefit for the hacker is access for millions of users. With and ordinary application you can gain access for everyone who uses applications on Facebook, and since nearly everyone is using applications, it is a securityhole number one at the moment, which require extra attention.

Many international companies has allready closed the access for this popular service. This argument has been on stage for some month and today Deloitte has proven it is very simple to use known security issues with and Facebook application and Martin Clausen mention in a interview with version2 that DANSKE BANK, the largest danish bank has closed the access to Facebook.

There is a need for a Security Policy which includes Social Media which for the moment is primarely is used for private purposes. But the problem will come when companies is starting using Facebook in Social Media Marketing to attract customers and use the service as a recruiting tool. If you are saying yes to an application in Facebook on work then not only all your passwords for every srvice you use is accesable and also is the servers which you have acces to in your company. Right now, there is no known fix of that problem from the producers of firewall, antimalware and antivirus systems. The only effective way is to close for the access at the moment.

.tel domain is released for sale today

The new top level domain .tel is released for sale today. It is not for homepage and portals. It is not at all an ordinary domain. The only function this domains has on ots name servers is to reply with the contact information of the owner of the domain. This function is needed for the upcoming mobile momentum, and for normal Internet users, as an easy access for companies, public institutions and private persons. Verinet does not expect this domain to be sold in high volumes.

The only funtions you will have available is to fillout a contact information scheme, which is your basic information which is returned as requested. Such services is allready on the market and nameli OPENID is one of the major playeres on this market. From the 8. december 2008 and today there have been a sunrise period, while the landrush period actually is starting now, but they pay a price which is higher that on the 24. march where the low price of only 1 EURO at Verinet. The low price of the registration fee is for ALL domain names in the world sold by Verinet.

98,3% of the fastest computers is Linux based on the TOP500 list

Cloud Computing TOP500 list
The worlds fastest servers & computers TOP500 list

If you take a look at the TOP500 list for the fastest computers in the world, it is dominated by Linux. Actually 98,3% af all computers is running Linux. That is 469 of 500. And in a couple of years there might NOT be any more than 1 or 2 Windows computers on the list. If you go back to last years Linux share it was 91,8% – so Linux continues to dominate the worlds market of the fastest computers and servers.

Microsoft has a fast computer on the list as number 10. It is a Windows HPC Server 2008. A part of the reason is that Microsoft cant deliver any programming tools for developing fast computers. When talking about fast the fastest servers is running more than 1 petaflop means 1026 quadrillion calculations per second. Intel does hold the record of the processors used as 75% of the TOP500 is from Intel. The other processor vendors is Sony, Cray, AMD and Sun.

In the coming years we will se more and more Cloud Computing systems which works as supercomputers because it is one of the cheapest ways to create a supercomputer. Actually you may use standard 19″ 1U Rack server to bundle many of these to a SKY which is the benefit of Cloud Computing. If you take 42 of these with 3 GHZ and 10GB memory and 4 TB disks, you will have SKY which have a 126 GHZ CPU, 420 GB Ram and 168 TB hard disk. The price for such a Rack Cabinet with 42 rack servers would be below 100.000 dollars.

Why is Linux so popular? First of all Linux is having around a 73% market share in the server market which is used in datacenters and hosting centers. Next Linux is of course free AND Open Source, but also scalable from start, so you may start with 1 rack server and have about 10 servers up running the next day, with Cloud Computing and / or Clustering with Automatic Process Failover and Load Balancing.

Check out the TOP500 list:

Cloud Computing goes mainstream for Hosting, Virtualization, Clustering and your own hardware

Cloud computing is the most important technology since WEB2. Cloud Computing is a hosting service and so called Internet-based “CLOUD” which use a number of rackservers or blade servers to provide one Unified Cloud. In such a unified Cloud you may have all your company’s or country’s software and data. Virtualization technology is used for many different operating systems and for safety you may ad unlimited Clustering technology with Load Balancing for automatic fail over for services. On the software part it uses SaaS, Software as a Service like on a normal LAN. As clients you may use PC, Notbooks, PDA and also thin clients. For Hosting and SaaS Providers The Virtual Private Datacenter can be delivered in just a few minutes.

According to Gartner Research:
“Cloud Computing will be as influential as E-business”

Cloud Computing Information Center
Cloud Computing and Virtual Private Datacenters gives you the highest security, unlimited scale ability and the most in fluent technology since WEB2. Above you may see the main vendors on the SKY market.

According to Gartner there is no doubt that Cloud Computing will change the way we use servers, and it will also be a more Green Solution to choose. According to IEEE Internet Computing “Cloud Computing is a paradigm in which information is permanently stored in servers on the Internet and cached temporarily on clients that include desktops, entertainment centers, table computers, notebooks, wall computers, handhelds, sensors, monitors, etc.” Some of the synonyms has been Grid Computing and Elastic Computing.

Cloudcenter facilities with IAAS

Cloud computing is a SaaS product for incorporation of “Software as a Service”, Web 2.0 and many other technologies and trends. Many of the known Cloud Computing companies like Amazon and Microsoft is now having trouble times ahead from the Open Source communities and the Server Hosting Center Providers. The Open Source Cloud Computing is making it possible to use your own systems for the Cloud Computing Sky.

Currently used systems is comparable and compatible with Amazons EC2, Microsoft, Grid Community and your own system backend with IAAS = InfraStructure As A Service.

One of the nice thing in the world is small boxes with small prices and high performance. A such approuch has the new HP DL120 Server, DL 160 and DL 180. These server offers a high performance without sacrifying the high performance delivery.

If you take the DL 120 you will have a 19″ RackServer with DualCore and 1×160 GB harddisk for only 397 €. This server is especially good for people who found out that dedicated server hosting is in. Most prople do not want to share their mailservers, web facilities and FTP servers and such and prefer more privacy, higher uptime and better security. Thats why the Entry Level Server Hosting market is booming and is not showing any signs og crisis at all.

Prices on the Rack Servers makes i a very good strategy to take 2 servers and run them in Clustering Mode with or without Load Balancing. Also the price is in this case only 794 €.

All HP Systems comes with a leasing from 1 year to 5 years and that means that this model costs from around 9 € pr. month.

All models delivered from Verinet comes with a CD which is offering VMWARE ESXi Virtualization, Citrix Xensource Virtualization, ISP Control Panel, Web 2½ Video Streaming Server and also the 3 most recognized CMS systems which is Joomla, Drupal and Typo3 and a lot of SEO Based Templates. Windows Server 2008 – TOP10 Hosting fordele

3. Optimeret netværksydelse

Windows Server 2008 introducerer de største ændringer i netværksydelse siden Windows NT 4.0. Nye teknologier som Receive Window Autotuning, Receive Side Scaling, og Quality of Service (QOS) kan hjælpe virksomheder med at udnytte nutidens IT løsninger som multiGigabit netværk og integreret IP sec.

41% of Danish companies is using Outsourcing. Here is why.

4 out of 10 is using outsourcing in Denmark according to IDC Nordic Investment Guide. And 17% more is planning to outsource the whole or a part of IT functions in the Danish companies. That means that Denmark is number 1 on the European market.

IDC’s CEO in Sweden, Nils Molin, is responsible for the Nordic Investment Guide, says that Denmark now is ahead of the countries which Denmark usually is compared to. “Denmark do have a open business climate, where trade is playing an essential role. That means, that Danish enterprises is very fast to see new trends. At the same time there is a lack of employees. And with fewer resources , it is right ahead to outsource parts of the enterprise functions, so they can focus on the key areas.” Nils Molin also says that there is a tendency that smaller and middle-sized enterprises might be missing resources to run its own datacenter.

The CTO of Verinet, Steen Clausen, is confirming the market trend and continues. “For all enterprises the demands for mission critical hosting or outsourcing is getting higher and higher. We look at companies which is using separately IP classes, separately Internet connections and Server clustering, in order to gain stability and hight services for their clients.” Steen Clausen continues: “Also the cost of a datacenter is very high: Her is why:

  1. The space needed in M2 is around 1.000 DKR pr. M2
  2. The power systems for power redundancy is based on separate normal powersupply around at least 50.000 DKR
  3. The cost of the UPS Systems is around 4.000 DKR pr. KW
  4. If you want to Add Diesel Generator the price is around 100.000 DKR pr. KW pr. hour.
  5. The cost for Energen or other Fire fighting equipment is around 15.000 pr. M2.
  6. The cost for the Sniffing Systems is around 8.000 pr. M2.
  7. The cost for the obligatory Ground Level Power Connection is up to 125.000 per location
  8. Redundancy in Fiber of the IP net is around 40.000 DKR. pr. setup as it requires two separate Fiber Connections.
  9. The employees monthly salary is around 45.000 DKR pr. month pr. employee.
  10. The cost for the software use is around 2.000 pr. employee. The software could be video streaming, CMS, CRM, ERP, Office packages, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Sharepoint servers.
  11. The cost of the hardware such as servers, backup, routers, firewalls, clustering and virtualization.
  12. The cost for the Backup Solution, if it is local is around 25.000 pr. 10 server.

“That is why so many companies of all sizes is using co location, server hosting and IT Outsourcing. It is because of the cost and the high uptime, so to speak, that outsourcing has become so popular. One of the sidegifts is, that you are gaining a partner which is very trained in installing and maintaining software and hardware in general.”

Here is why Verinet is gaining momentum in the amount of contracts. The main reasson is that is cost from 49 DKR. pr. month pr. server. The cost of 1 web server including Raid 5 backup is:

Type of cost: Buy Monthly Fee

Many other researches shows that co location, server hosting and IT Outsourcing is gaining and the total worldmarket is rising around 25% next year, mostly because there also has been af rise in power, security and a safe guarded home for the vital data which is keept on the servers.
